This book embodies the ever-increasing scope and depth of empirical entrepreneurship research in Europe. Nachdem ab Mitte der 1970er Jahre zunachst von der Wirtschaftspolitik das Pro- blem zu geringer Unternehmens grundungs zahlen in der Bundesrepublik Deutsch- land erkannt worden ist, haben sich in der Folgezeit verschiedene Disziplinen im- mer starker der modernen Grundungsforschung (entrepreneurship research) zuge- wendet. Dabei ist festzustellen, dass die Grundungsforschung heute interdisziplinar ausgerichtet ist. Als ein wesentliches Forum der deutschsprachigen Grundungsfor- schung ist das im September 1998 von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) gestartete Schwerpunktprogramm "Interdisziplinare Grundungsforschung" einzuordnen. In seiner insgesamt sechsjahrigen Laufzeit beschaftigt sich das Schwerpunktprogramm mit verschiedenen Fragestellungen der Grundungsproble- matik, die aus Sicht unterschiedlicher Disziplinen analysiert werden. In der ersten Phase des Programms wurden von September 1998 bis August 2000 insgesamt zehn Projekte mit 20 Projektteilnehmern gefoerdert. Die Mehrzahl dieser Projekte entstammt den klassischen Wirtschaftswissenschaften (Betriebswirtschaftslehre, Volkswirtschaftslehre), aber die Beteiligung von Forschern aus funf weiteren Dis- ziplinen (Geographie, Soziologie, Jura, Psychologie und Raumplanung) unter- streicht den interdisziplinaren Charakter der modernen Grundungsforschung. Das vorliegende Buch prasentiert die wesentlichen Ergebnisse der ersten Phase des Schwerpunktprogramms "Interdisziplinare Grundungsforschung". Die aus den unterschiedlichen Disziplinen stammenden Autoren legen in den Beitragen den Schwerpunkt auf die Darstellung ihrer empirischen Ergebnisse und beschranken die Erlauterung der eingesetzten Methodik und Datenbasis auf das zum Verstand- nis der Beitrage notwendige Minimum. Untersuchungsgegenstand sind neu ge- grundete Unternehmen, wobei sich das hier aufgegriffene Themenspektrum uber verschiedenste Facetten des gesamten Grundungsprozesses erstreckt. Die in der Regel aus der Sicht von mindestens zwei verschiedenen Disziplinen bearbeiteten Themen widmen sich u. a.

In recent years, discussion on tourism has focused mainly on global problems relating to the over-exploitation of space, leaving other aspects of the development of tourist activities almost completely ignored. The book will focus not only on the widely understood tourist exploitation processes, their geographical diversity and density, but also on their significance and influence (economic, socio-cultural, tourist etc.) on regional development and sustainability. It will also cover the debate on promotion of innovative, sustainable and responsible tourism strategies, plans and funds, and the movement towards responsible and sustainable cultural tourism through the crisis in marginal areas. It will also highlight the dramatic changes to the global tourism industry brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent months.

Nach dem Fall der Mauer kam es zum weitgehenden Zusammenbruch der alten Unternehmensstrukturen in Ostdeutschland. Durch Privatisierungen und Neugrundungen ist die Unternehmenslandschaft voellig neu gestaltet worden. Das Buch analysiert diese neue Unternehmenslandschaft anhand von UEberblicksdarstellungen (z.B. durch Privatisierung), Analysen ausgewahlter Wirtschaftsbereiche (z.B. Industrie) sowie durch regionale Fallstudien (z.B. Region Jena). Insofern stellt es eine Bilanz der wirtschaftlichen Transformationsprozesse der ersten funf Nachwendejahre dar.

Kerstin Wagner analysiert sowohl Leistungsspektren und Unterstutzungsnetzwerke von grundungsspezifischen Anbietern als auch Wahrnehmung, Akzeptanz und Grundungsengagement auf Nachfragerseite. Die Untersuchung der Auswirkungen hochschul- und regionalspezifischer Charakteristika auf Grundungsneigung und Praferenzen von Studierenden zeigt, dass sich infrastrukturelle, kontext- und personenbezogene Einflusse in der Grundungseinstellung und der Grundungsaktivitat von Studierenden niederschlagen.

Neuen Unternehmen kommt eine besondere Bedeutung fur die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung zu: sie sollen neue Arbeitsplatze schaffen, den Strukturwandel unterstutzen, neue Markte erschliessen etc.
Dieser Prozess wird aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln unterschiedlicher Disziplinen beleuchtet. Dabei kommt ein breites Methodenspektrum zur Anwendung. Es erlaubt den Blick uber die Grenzen der einzelnen Disziplin. Somit wird dem Leser die Moglichkeit zur interdisziplinaren Betrachtungsweise der Grundungsforschung eroffnet. Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt stellt dabei das noch recht junge Grundungsgeschehen in den neuen Bundeslandern dar."
